SOCIAL-ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT

EXTRAIR participates in the LPA Project in Rio de Janeiro State (Local Productive Arrangements).This has been developed between EMBRAPA – AGROINDÚSTRIA DE ALIMENTOS and UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DO NORTE FLUMINENSE (UENF). The main objective is to develop and promote between the producers of passion fruit in the region, technological innovations, cost reductions, development of improved varieties and the development of processes and additional products and services.

Fruit Juice is the main Industry for Passion fruit in the region and after the juice is extracted, the seeds become a waste by product. EXTRAIR will work in partnership with these local producers to make use of these waste items resulting in new products, services and revenue whilst protecting the environment.

 

 

PROJECT / FUTURE: THE EXTRAIR: together with partner institutions are looking into research & development for the extraction of pectin from passion fruit peel as well as the extraction of oils from seeds of other fruits, and the development of a process of washing Seeds from the juice industries.
